How Long it Will Last:
- The DreamPorts (the adhesive strips with connectors) are only good for a single use and should be disposed of daily - 1 set per day
- The adhesive tape is high quality hypoallergenic surgical tape manufactured by 3M
- You use two DreamPorts each night (one for each nostril) and dispose of them in the morning
- The DreamPorts are recyclable (environmentally friendly)
- The DreamPort solution works well for almost all people with obstructive sleep apnea
How to Apply:
- Prep. Clean your nose and area around the nose. Remove oil, makeup, and dirt to allow the adhesive to fit most securely. Use a mild astringent like alcohol or witch hazel. DreamWipes are also available for purchase and are ideal for this crucial first step
- Dry. Pat the area completely dry before proceeding
- Apply. Peel the adhesive backing off one DreamPort adhesive adapter. While looking in a mirror, tilt your head back and place the Dream Port under one nostril so that the DreamPort becomes an extension of your nostril. Use your finger to secure the adhesive where your nostril and the DreamPort come together. Smooth out any gaps or bubbles around your nose and nostril
- Repeat for the second nostril
- Smooth the adhesive where the two DreamPorts overlap so there is a tight seal from the adhesive
- Check airflow. The DreamPort should NOT block airflow through your nostrils. Breathe in through your nose and verify you feel air passing through both nostrils. If this is not the case, remove the DreamPort and apply a new one. Connect each quick-release socket on the DreamWay tubing interface to each DreamPort. A CLICK indicates it's fully connected
- Attach your CPAP hose to the universal connector on the DreamWay tubing. Do NOT reapply a removed DreamPort as the adhesive will not fully function
TIP: trim the adhesive before peeling off the backing to better fit smaller faces. Pieces of trimmed adhesive can also be used to help seal the DreamPort adaptors in the area of overlap
Removing the DreamPort:
- Use a mirror
- Pinch the tabs at the rim of the quick release sockets to disconnect from the DreamPorts from the DreamWay unit. Gently pull the adhesive down at the upper edges. Always pull the DreamPorts off at the bottom of the nose
- Recycle the plastic DreamPorts
- Throw away the adhesives
Cleaning:
- Agitate the DreamWay unit for 20-30 seconds in lukewarm water with a scent-free, moisturizer free mild soap
- Soak the DreamWay unit for 10 minutes
- Rinse in fresh water
- Air dry but avoid direct sunlight

Cleaning & Replacing Guidelines
THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO REPLACING & CLEANING YOUR CPAP SUPPLIES
With cold & flu season and COVID-19 in full swing, it's more important than ever to focus on your health. Don’t know where to start? Start with your CPAP supplies. You use this equipment every night, so making sure it's being replaced and cleaned properly, is critical not only to your sleep health, but your overall health as well.
Did you know that the natural oils from your face stick to your cushion? Over time, this will soften your mask cushion and break down the seal. Unfortunately, you will then experience air leaks and a poorer night sleep. Do not let this happen to you!
We created the ultimate guide (as recommended by major insurance companies) to make sure you are replacing your CPAP supplies on time and cleaning them correctly!
WHEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY CPAP SUPPLIES?
See below for the insurance recommended schedule:
- Every 6 Months: Headgear, Black Non-Disposable Filter & Chinstrap
- Every 3 Months: Frame, Tubing
- Every Month: Full Face Mask Cushions
- Bi-Weekly: White Disposable Filters, Nasal Mask Cushions
- Only when cracked or broken: Humidifier Chamber
Failure to timely change your CPAP supplies could lead to infections and respiratory problems! There is hidden bacteria, grime, and dirt all over CPAP supplies!
HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY CPAP SUPPLIES?
In-between new supplies, pollen, dust, bacteria, and air particles build up on your supplies. Manufacturers, suppliers, and sleep physicians all recommend regular cleanings of your CPAP equipment and supplies; but keeping track of when to clean what, is no easy task! We are here to help.
“It is vitally important to keep everything as clean as possible, as hoses/tubing and masks can be a prime breeding ground for bacteria and mold,” said Phoebe Ochman, director of Communications for Sleep Apnea Treatment Centers of America.
CLEANING YOUR CPAP SUPPLIES
- Add warm water to a bathtub or sink.
- Mix in a mild soap. Some patients prefer baby soap, the Neutralizing Pre-Wash by SoClean, or a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar.
- Swirl around for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
- Leave all items to hang/air dry. Be sure to dry the chamber as much as possible with a paper towel or cloth, and then leave it out to air dry the rest of the way.
- Clean all high-touch surfaces like nightstands, doorknobs, and light switches daily with a disposable wipe or a cloth and an EPA approved disinfectant.
Important Tips
- Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals.
- Empty unused humidifier water daily and refill nightly.
- If distilled water is unavailable, a back-up chamber should be kept on hand to immediately replace if residue develops.
- If your mask has magnetic clips, leave them attached to the mask frame before cleaning.
Another option is to use a CPAP cleaning machine. It will save you time and energy for easy sanitizing and kill bacteria, germs, and other pathogens on your supplies. Let it do the hard work for you!
